Songe de Scipion by composer Hans Martin
an electro-acoustic composition reflecting thoughts upon ancient text - the dream of Scipio. - written by Cicero, is the sixth book of De re publica, and describes a (postulated fictional or real) dream vision of the Roman general Scipio Aemilianus, set two years before he oversaw the destruction of Carthage in 146 BC. Hans decided to structure the work according to the 9 planet described by Cicero. Each section of the piece last exactly 1 minute, and at the very middle of the piece, a section which is the most dense, representing the sun. The music uses ancient technique, such as diatonic scale & canonic structure and more contemporary techniques like glissandi & timbral morphics.
