HANS MARTIN

Hans Martin holds a master's degree in composition from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. During his studies, he worked with Jimmie LeBlanc, Klaus Lang, Serge Provost and Michel Tétreault. Composing instrumental, electroacoustic and mixed media works, he is interested in the experience of sound as an acoustic phenomenon. His research is influenced by musical forms stemming from the algorithmic tradition from the Middle Ages to the present day. Hans Martin's works have been performed by the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+), the Orchestre de la francophonie, the ensemble Hanatsu Miroir, the ensemble AKA, the students of the ensemble Klangforum Wien (PPCM), as well as several other student ensembles such as the symphony orchestra, the string orchestra and the contemporary music ensemble of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, and the ensemble EROC at the Université de Montréal. As a sound designer, he has worked with director Simon Boudreault and students at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal, and with director Charles Voyer and the Théâtre indépendant. Alongside his work as a composer, Hans Martin has also sat on the artistic and administrative boards of cultural organisations such as Codes d'accès and Vivier InterUniversitaire.
